When someone who has never scuba dived before visits your website they need to be able to see, within seconds, information that's relevant to them. Making 'Try scuba diving' and 'Learn to scuba dive' easy to find will help those people get the information they want quickly and give you the best chance of receiving an enquiry.
Three quick wins to enhance your Learn to Scuba Dive and Try Dive webpages
- Make sure your 'Learn to scuba dive' and 'Try Dive' or 'Try scuba diving' page is visible in the main menu of your website.
In your club's top navigation menu try to have the following pages:
- Try scuba diving
- Learn to scuba dive
- Already a diver?
- Scuba diver training
- Dive calendar
- Contact us
(some of these menu items would have sub menu items below them)
Inspiration - Bingham Sub-Aqua Club does this really well, check out their Try Dive page. - Have a strong call to action (CTA) on your homepage to guide website users to your learn to dive and Try Dive pages.
Inspiration - Holborn Sub-Aqua Club has a really good 'Try Dive' call to action on their homepage, click to see. - On your learn to dive and Try Dive pages make it super obvious how to book a Try Dive and get in contact with you.
A big button with 'Book Now' will help the user take action.
Inspiration - Pontefract Scuba Club has a good example of this on their Try Dive page, check it out.
The 'quick wins' above should be pretty quick to implement (less than 10 minutes each), if you need any support with them please contact BSAC marketing on 0151 350 6224 or email us.
If you have a got a little more time you should optimise your learn to dive and Try Dive webpages even further...
Optimise your learn to dive and Try Dive webpages
Someone looking into learning to dive and Try Dives on your website will likely be new to scuba diving. Make sure it's super obvious to the user how to start learning to dive with your club or how to book a Try Dive on your website. Always make sure your contact details stand out.
The content of your pages needs to have clear headings and get to the point quickly, don't add unnecessary content.
Learn to scuba dive webpage content to try
Use the following questions as a guide to writing your web page content. They are questions a new trainee will want to know the answers to:
- What is the BSAC Ocean Diver course? Who will teach me?
- What will I be qualified to do? What will I learn? When do I get to dive in the sea? (tell them how amazing it is!)
- How do I get started? (contact details)
- How long does it take to learn to scuba dive?
- When can I start my Ocean Diver course? (always keep this up to date, let people 'register interest' via email or a form if you don't have dates just yet)
- How much does it cost?
- What equipment will I need? How much will it cost?
The list above is just a guide, please add more specific information about your club.
Top tip: Keep your answers short and to the point. Please use BSAC's Learn to scuba dive web section for inspiration but make the content your own by adding details of your club, training and use lines like 'learn to scuba dive in *your town*' to help your website appear in Google searches made by people in your area.
Try Dive webpage content
In the content, you need to reassure them of what happens during a Try Dive too; what they will need and any other information relevant to your club. Website content for you to try:
What is a 'Try Dive'? - explain here what happens on a Try Dive at your club. Make them feel welcome before they even make an enquiry by adding content like; a qualified instructor will guide you through your Try Dive, a buddy will welcome you and stay with you throughout your visit.
What gear will I need? - simply add here that they can bring swimwear, t-shirt and shorts or a shortie wetsuit if they have one.
When can I come for a Try Dive? - if your resources will allow, just pop your pool night day and times here e.g. we hold Try Dives every Wednesday between 8 and 9pm.
How to book a Try Dive - Call XXX or email XXX to arrange a time for your Try Dive.
Try Dive testimonials
Ask Try Divers to review their experience. This can either be a written review or you could film them on your phone poolside describing their experience, videos under 1 minute long are best.
Try Dive videos
A video showing what happens on a Try Dive can really inspire people to book. Lisburn Scuba-Aqua Club has a great example of this on their Try Dive webpage. Again this can be a short video, a quick clip of the Instructor demonstrating the dive gear, a few clips underwater and perhaps a few smiling faces at the end or someone saying how amazing the experience was.
