By mid-December (time of going to press) BSAC clubs collectively grew their new memberships by more than 10 per cent in 2018 compared to 2017. Wow!
This success does not come by chance. Generally, successful clubs plan, involve their members and have a great online presence. Follow these tried and tested tips:
- Download the ‘Grow your club checklist’. In around 20 minutes you’ll be able to identify what you can do to grow and retain members in your club.
- Delegate tasks – share the tasks. Include any keen members, it doesn’t just have to be club officers.
- Get back to enquiries within 24 hours, read more on 'Top tips for responding to potential new members in 24 hours'.
- Check your club’s contact details are up to date on the Find a Club tool. Search for your club and check (send a test email to yourself), if details are incorrect please email the marketing team and we’ll update them for you.
- List your club on Google maps.
- Get reviews from your members on your Facebook page and Google maps listing.
- Have ‘Learn to scuba dive’ and ‘Try Dive’ pages on your website. Read more top tips on how to do this.
- Engage your members – ask them what type of diving and training they want to do more of – for example shore or RIB; Diver Training Programme or Skill Development Courses. Get events on your Facebook page as soon as possible to fill your trips and courses. Read more on 'Making the most of Facebook'.
We know that’s a lot of ‘top tips’ to take on board, and there are even more online, but just take them one step at a time. Complete the ‘Grow your club checklist’, set your goals and do one or two of our ‘top tips’ a month.
