Since launching the free Facebook advert service in June to help clubs recruit, BSAC has had nearly 50 clubs sign up already.
The free advert service is available for the first 100 clubs that come forward, so there are 50 places left. As the UK's National Governing Body for scuba diving and snorkelling, BSAC is working to grow the sport with Facebook ads. The service was piloted at the recent Know and Grow workshops for clubs, where BSAC’s Debbie Powell set up an ad on the club’s behalf and the club then received new member enquiries directly.
The first club to try this was Rugby SAC. On the response, Club Secretary Andrea Jones said:
The ad was created on the Saturday and by Monday we had someone visit the club from it! We had about eight enquiries in the first week.
Newry & Mourne SAC also had an advert set up for them and its Membership Secretary Philomena Gonnelly said:
The results from the Facebook post were phenomenal, reaching thousands of people close to our club and we already have three peoplewanting to join.
BSAC wants ALL clubs looking to grow to benefit in this way. Debbie Powell said:
Facebook has provided a fantastic opportunity for clubs to attract new members. However, not all clubs looking to grow are capitalising on this and we hope this offer will change that.
