If you’re an experienced Boat Handler looking to sharpen your edge or want to refresh and enhance your existing skills ready to teach others, the new Boat Handling Instructor Workshop (BHIW) is designed with you in mind.

This intensive two-day course and assessment focusses not just on what you teach, but how you teach it – raising standards and confidence at every level.

The first event launches in Weymouth on 14-15 March at Jurassic Aqua Sports, the BHIW brings together experienced Seamanship Instructor Trainers to help you refine your boat handling to true demonstration standard, while developing clear, progressive and effective teaching techniques. Through a blend of coached skills circuits, practical teaching sessions and detailed feedback, you’ll be challenged to deliver high-quality lessons that are safe, structured and effective.

Day one centres on hands-on practice, honing your own handling skills and exploring teaching methods. Day two progresses to showcasing your instruction techniques and knowledge, assessing your ability to teach both practical and theoretical elements of boat handling. Continuous feedback and a personalised development focus ensure real, lasting improvement.

Successful candidates will be registered as approved Boat Handling Instructors, able to teach independently within club, regional or centre environments.

If you’re serious about professional development and setting the benchmark for boat handling instruction, this workshop is your next step.
