Vobster Quay’s ever-popular charity Santa diving event returns on Sunday 14th December 2025 for festive fundraising and a pre-Christmas splash.

Run in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Help For Heroes, this ever-popular annual scuba diving fundraiser aims to raise thousands of pounds for these two very deserving charities.

Scuba divers of all levels are invited to grab their Santa suits - and as much festive cheer as they can muster - and head down to Vobster Quay near Mells, Somerset for a mass sponsored Santa dive in aid of charity. In previous years, the event has attracted divers from the far corners of the UK to join in the yuletide merriment for a final festive dive before the Christmas and New Year break. Now in its 18th year, Vobster Santas is a great opportunity for dive buddies, dive schools and dive clubs to get together for a very silly Christmas charity event like no other.

Vobster Santas isn't just about festive fun - it's also a great opportunity to show appreciation for two very worthy causes. Vobster Quay encourages all divers to get into the spirit of the season to raise much-needed funds for our two nominated charities – the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and the Armed Forces charity, Help For Heroes. Through the easy-to-use online platform JustGiving.com, divers can invite their friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor them to plunge into the chilly waters of Vobster Quay dressed in full festive finery.

Since the very first festive charity dive in 2007, the Vobster Quay diving community has raised over £55,000 for good causes and this year the organisers hope to add another £5,000 to that total. To kickstart the fundraising efforts, Vobster Quay has generously donated £1,000 to each of these charities.

The event will also host a very special charity prize draw raffle with all proceeds donated to two nominated charities. Lucky winners will be going home with a bumper selection of fabulous prizes donated by some of the biggest brands in scuba diving. Raffle tickets cost £1 and will be available for purchase through the onsite shop at Vobster Quay. The draw will take place on the day at Vobster Santas.

Amy Stanton, Vobster Quay owner said:

It’s been over 18 years since our very first charity Santa dive at Vobster Quay and every year we’re amazed by just how generous the diving community can be.
Vobster Santas is a great way for divers to say a massive thank you to the both the RNLI and Help For Heroes – two charities that mean so much to us all. We’re immensely proud of all that Vobster Santas has achieved and we hope that even more divers will join this year’s event on the 14th December. We want as many divers as possible to get involved so we’ve opened it up to everyone – Vobster Quay members and non-members are all welcome!

Divers wishing to participate in Scuba Santas can sign up now on the Vobster website.
