How much does it cost to learn to dive?
The cost of learning to dive is split into two parts:
1. eLearning + Membership
- Ocean Diver: £128
- Discovery Diver: £101
- Includes your training materials, qualification, and 12-month BSAC membership.
2. Practical Training
- Paid directly to your chosen BSAC club or training centre.
- Typically around £400–£500.

How long does it take to become a qualified diver?

eLearning takes 8–10 hours at your own pace.

Pool and open water sessions can be completed over a few days or spread out over several weeks.

You progress only when you and your instructor feel you're ready.
Is scuba diving safe?
Yes! Scuba diving has a strong safety record. BSAC’s world-class training ensures you develop the skills and knowledge to dive safely and confidently, with safety techniques taught from the very start.
What are the medical requirements to dive with BSAC?
To dive with BSAC, you need to be medically fit. Usually, this involves completing the self-certification Diver self-declaration medical fitness form. If you answer “yes” to any of the questions on the form, we’ll guide you through the process to seek approval from a qualified medical referee.
Does a BSAC qualification expire?
No – your qualification lasts for life! If you’ve not dived for a while, we recommend a Scuba Refresher course to rebuild confidence.
Can people with disabilities learn to dive?
Yes. Many people with physical disabilities, mental health conditions or neurodiversity can learn to dive. Contact us for advice – we’re here to help.
