Members looking to start or progress as an instructor can plan their 2024 training, as BSAC’s Instructor Training Scheme events for next year are now bookable online.
Every year, around 200 BSAC members qualify as an Open Water Instructor, (OWI) enabling them to teach both pool and open water training within their club.
To start on the path to BSAC instructor, you need to be a minimum of a Sports Diver.
After completing the Instructor Foundation Course (IFC), you can progress to Open Water Instructor, Advanced Instructor and even National Instructor or Instructor Trainer.
Here’s why the BSAC instructor scheme is the best way to become a scuba or snorkel instructor:
- Book through the annual programme of Instructor Training Scheme (ITS) events, and you get a wide choice of courses and locations to choose from.
- BSAC instructor training is progressive – so you can go at your own pace to consolidate your skills.
BSAC’s instructor training courses are coordinated regionally, so you get the chance to train outside of your club and learn alongside other members from clubs around the UK.
- If you are an instructor from another agency, your knowledge and skills are invaluable. All you need to do is complete the BSAC Instructor Crossover course to teach in your BSAC club.
- As a BSAC instructor, you are never alone – you will have access to an experienced network of instructor mentors (within your club and regionally) as you develop and progress.
Members can now view the newly released 2024 ITS courses online and book their next instructor course at bsac.com/events
