BSAC was proud to be part of a memorable day celebrating the people and organisations working to protect and champion Wales’ incredible marine environment as the King’s Baton Relay visited Porthdinllaen.

The event brought together local groups making a real difference along the Welsh coastline. BSAC members joined the team from Project SIARC for an egg case survey, supporting vital research into sharks, skates and rays and their role in a thriving, sustainable marine ecosystem.

The day also saw young people from North Wales Wildlife Trust’s Seagrass Ocean Rescue programme carry the baton into the water, snorkelling above the precious seagrass habitats found in the bay.

The baton was then passed to BSAC volunteers from Chester Sub-Aqua Club and The Golden Lion SAC, who carried it aboard their club RIBs, highlighting the dedication and community spirit of volunteer divers across Wales.
