Just switch off your television set and go and do something less boring instead?

Remember this? If you were a child at some point in the 70s or 80s the chances are you do.

For those that don’t ‘Why Don’t You’ was a BBC children’s programme shown during the school holidays on weekday mornings and was hosted by a group of kids from different areas of the country. They’d basically demonstrate to their audience what they could do at home to keep themselves entertained during the school holidays.

So, in our wisdom, inspired by the hands-on kids from this show several decades ago, we thought we’d re-spin the concept for divers at home. What could possibly go wrong?!!!

So, if you’d like to share with others a video with demonstrations of what divers could do at home, go for your life! We’re thinking dive gear clear outs, reef creations in paddling pools to practice underwater photography, fixing kit, recipes for divers that could later become post-dive treats. Ideas are only limited by your imagination!

Share your videos online on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using hashtag #BSACdivers or email them to Imi at imogeng@bsac.com using WeTransfer or similar. You’ll offer fellow members some much-needed laughs and possibly some practical ideas too. And we’ll feature the favourite of the week in the new weekly email to members, BSAC Spirit.

Here’s a blast from the past from those that were around at that time, which let’s face it, is probably quite a few of us…
