Information from local organiser

Over the last couple of years Vectis Expeditions has been running diving expeditions in support of BSAC Operation Oyster and The Great Seagrass Survey.  At the same time  we have also been running pilots for the new BSAC Underwater Surveyor Course which we are now rolling out.

The diving will be shallow- between 6-10m.  Single cylinders and a BCD should be fine.

Pre-requisite qualifications

  • Current BSAC members (with in-date self-declaration medical/diving medical).
  • If you are not a BSAC member – a 3 month  trial membership can be arranged for an additional £30
  • Minimum diving grade of BSAC Sports Diver or equivalent (inc. diver rescue skills)
  • Capable of launching a DSMB confidently and competently.
  • Comfortable laying a distance line underwater and using a handheld compass.
