As an Advanced Diver you have covered the vast majority of the skills included in Advanced Snorkel Diver and Snorkel Dive Manager.
We simply require you to demonstrate that you are a competent snorkel diver. A short assessment, carried out during a snorkel dive will be used to assess that you are competent and confident at:
- Buoyancy control
- Fitting and clearing a mask on the surface and underwater
- Breathing from a snorkel and clearing it on the surface and whilst underwater, using both blow and displacement techniques
- Finning forwards, backwards and sideways using a variety of arm positions
- Using signals whilst working as part of a buddy pair
- Using a head first surface dive and a feet first surface dive to 5m
- Using an SMB as a snorkeller, especially whilst duck diving
If you already hold the Advanced Lifesaver Award then you have covered the majority of the Advanced Snorkel Lifesaver Award too.
You will be required to undertake the Snorkel Diver Rescue as outlined below:
- A snorkel diver in snorkel diving equipment to rescue another similarly equipped snorkel diver. The subject is not breathing and has blacked out.
- Free water rescue lift from 5m
- Rescue breaths 1 minute
- Tow to shore 100m
- Dekit and land casualty
- Demonstrate 3 cycles of BLS on a manikin
An Advanced Diver who does not hold the Advanced Lifesaver Award will be required to complete the Advanced Lifesaver Award first, or complete Advanced Snorkel Lifesaver Award separately.
On completion of the crossover you will be awarded:
- Snorkel Dive Manager
- Advanced Snorkel Lifesaver Award
As an Advanced Instructor (Scuba) you will also be awarded
- Advanced Snorkel Instructor
