BSAC’s Twin-set Instructor Workshop (TIW) allows instructors who are also experienced twin-set divers to become qualified to teach other divers to use twin-sets.
You’ll be shown techniques for teaching twin-set skills and assessed against your ability to deliver them to students.
To attend this course you must be an Open Water Instructor (OWI) holding a BSAC Twin-set Diver qualification, or equivalent from another recognised training agency. Additionally, students must have logged 20 dives with a twin-set.
Initially, you will be shown demonstrations of how to teach twin-set skills and consider the best methods to use.
The next step will be to use the knowledge you have gained to deliver a twin-set lesson which will be assessed against STEP (Safe, Technically Correct, Effective, Progressive).
Throughout you will receive tips on improving personal twin-set diving skills and have been assisted to create a Twin-set Instructor Personal Development Plan (PDP).
Successful completion of the BSAC Twin-set Instructor Workshop will allow you to teach the BSAC Twin-set Diver course.

Book onto a scheduled Twin-set Instructor Workshop
Along with full open-water dive kit suitable for local conditions, you will also need a twin-set in a configuration that you regularly dive. Students will be provided with electronic learning materials.
Your next steps – developing your skills
After becoming a Twin-set Instructor, you may wish to consider:
- Helping your local region with the delivery of Twin-set Diver courses.
- Developing your decompression diving skills on an Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP) course.
- Progressing to Sport Mixed Gas Diver (50m) after completing ADP and enjoy the benefits of reduced gas density and narcosis, which ensure greater comfort and enjoyment at these extended depths.
