Diving Officers from across the North West came together on Tuesday 31 March for a dedicated workshop and networking evening, hosted this year at Northern Diver’s head office near Wigan.
Around 30 BSAC members attended the annual regional event, organised by North West Regional Coach Stephen Dorricott. The workshop provides a valuable opportunity for Diving Officers (DOs) from local clubs to connect, share experiences and build confidence in their roles as the diving season gets fully underway.
This year’s event was made particularly special thanks to the support of Northern Diver, who generously opened their doors to host the evening. Attendees were treated to a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the facility, led by Neil Tordoff and the Northern Diver team. The group explored the company’s suit manufacturing capabilities, saw the latest diving technology in development, and gained insight into their extensive cylinder testing operations.
As well as the tour, the workshop itself offered a chance for DOs of all experience levels to learn and exchange ideas. Whether new to the role or highly experienced, attendees benefited from practical discussions and shared knowledge designed to support safe and enjoyable diving within their clubs.

This workshop is a great opportunity to bring Diving Officers together, share ideas and ensure everyone feels supported in their role. The visit to Northern Diver was a real highlight, giving members the chance to see the latest equipment and innovations up close.
BSAC’s Sophie Heptonstall was also on hand during the evening, helping answer questions and providing updates on the latest developments across the club - ensuring attendees left informed and up to date.
The event once again highlighted the strength of the North West diving community, with collaboration, learning and a shared passion for diving at its heart.
