You have two flexible ways to get started:
- Start online for just £149 – Includes membership and eLearning, so you can study theory at your own pace this winter, then schedule practical training with a club or training centre when you’re ready.
- Go straight to a BSAC club or training centre – Clubs can arrange in-person theory lessons and practical sessions, offering a friendly, community-focused environment to learn and dive locally. And centres are perfect if you’d like to learn quickly.
Both options are fully supported by BSAC-qualified instructors and give you the skills you need to safely dive in open water.
About the Ocean Diver Course
BSAC’s Ocean Diver qualification is world-recognised, allowing you to dive to 20 metres. Perfect for beginners, it’s the first step toward a lifetime of underwater adventures.
Course structure:
- 7 theory sessions (online or in-person at a club)
- Around 5 pool sessions
- 4 open water qualifying dives
Practical training costs (not included):
- BSAC Club: approx. £200–£250
- BSAC Training Centre: approx. £450–£500 for ~3 days
Most clubs provide kit; some may ask you to bring your own mask and snorkel.
Medical fitness:
All learners must complete the Diver Medical self-declaration. If you answer “yes” to any questions, BSAC will guide you through approval from a qualified diving medical referee.
