Do you want to showcase the difference your club is making to its members, its community and our sport? Then tell your story and you could be the winners of the 2027 Heinke Trophy.

Since 1958, the Heinke Trophy has been a cornerstone of the BSAC community, celebrating the achievements and impact of its clubs and their members. It has championed scuba diving, snorkelling and highlighted the contribution BSAC clubs make to our sport.

Following the trophy’s successful relaunch last year - which saw a new two-year cycle for each annual award - the Heinke Trophy team is now inviting submissions for the 2027 Trophy. Our 2027 winner will not only receive £1,000 for their club but also gain national recognition for their achievements.

Get ready to tell your club’s story

No matter how big or small your BSAC club is, UK-based or overseas, whether you love your snorkelling and recreational diving or like to go big on expeditions, the Heinke Trophy is open to all.

“The Heinke Trophy isn’t about being the biggest club — it’s about showcasing the difference your club makes,” said Heinke Trophy Adjudicator, Phil Harrison.

“It is also not about being perfect — it’s about celebrating your members, telling your club’s story, and inspiring the wider BSAC community.”

Simpler. Smarter. More Supportive.

After listening to club feedback, BSAC has made the Heinke Trophy more accessible to enter than ever. Here’s what’s clubs can expect:

• A streamlined application process - time to prepare and submit
• A two-year timeline to give space for reflection, planning, and storytelling
• New mentoring support – with up to three one-to-one sessions available for interested clubs
• Flexible digital submissions – get creative with that final report!

With more time to plan and prepare, ongoing support and one-to-one mentoring, and a streamlined submission process, the refreshed Heinke Trophy has proved popular. And with the 2026 award having attracted more club registrations than ever before, Phil hopes even more clubs will come forward to tell the unique story of a ‘year in their life.’

“This is a chance to shine a spotlight on your club’s passion, innovation, and commitment – and to inspire others to follow your lead,” he added.

Nick Barter, from three-time Trophy winners, Clidive, agrees. “If you have a strong story for your activities, then you have a winning Heinke entry in the making!”
