Denys Ilyushenko welcomed as new BSAC East Midlands Regional Coach

Denys Ilyushenko has been welcomed as the new BSAC Regional Coach for the East Midlands region. 

Denys began diving in 2014 with the Warwick University BSAC branch, where he quickly fell in love with both the underwater world and the art of instructing. What started as a hobby soon became a deep passion, driving Denys to progress through the BSAC training system. One of his proudest achievements was achieving the First Class Diver award, and he is currently preparing for the National Instructor exam.

Denys said:

Looking back, I know this journey wouldn’t have been possible without the encouragement and guidance of fellow divers, instructors, and regional coaches. Their mentorship helped shape me into the diver and instructor I am today, and I’m incredibly grateful for the community that lifted me up.

Now, stepping into the role of East Midlands Regional Coach, I’m excited to give back. I look forward to working with a team of experienced,dedicated and passionate people, helping other divers and instructors grow in confidence, develop their skills, and discover the joy of teaching.

Our Regional Coaches provide an invaluable service to our club network, both with the Diver Training Programme and organising regional training events for members.

BSAC also wishes to thank Jeff Roberts, who is vacating the position after four years in the role, for his continued support in welcoming and supporting Denys as he takes up the reins.
