BSAC has revised the Twin-set Diver course to reflect the latest techniques and practices, which gives students the option of new eLearning theory modules.
The updated Twin-set course builds on the existing popular course, revised to reflect changes in techniques and equipment. It has adopted the format of the Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP) and Sidemount Diver courses: theory lessons, a dry kit configuration and skills session followed by in-water training which culminates in an assessment where you use your new skills to solve simulated problems.
The sidemount configuration has been taken out as this now has its own, dedicated course.
The Twin-set Diver course forms part of the suite of complementary courses to introduce divers to the world of technical diving; Twin-set, Sidemount, Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP), Deeper Diving and Propulsion.
It can be delivered in-club, in a Centre or through the Regional team by an approved twin-set instructor. If you would like to gain approved instructor status, then you need a twin-set qualification with some experience, be an Open Water Instructor (OWI) or above, and assist on a course or do an assessment of your diving and teaching skills with an Instructor Trainer.

The revised Twin-set Diver course consists of four theory lessons plus supplementary lesson, two dry practicals, one sheltered water and two open water lessons.
Students can now choose to complete the theory via eLearning, giving them the option of classroom learning from home in their own time and at their own pace.
Who can teach Twin-set Diver
The instructor requirements remain almost unchanged, except instructors must now only complete one full course as an approved assistant (reduced from two), or take the Twin-set Instructor Workshop. The full requirements are:
- BSAC Open Water Instructor (OWI) or above
- Hold the Twin-set qualification
- Completed 20 logged twin-set dives
- Gold or Black standard buoyancy
- One assist
