From 18th–26th July, the Shark Trust's Great Shark Snapshot is back, and BSAC Chair of Environment and Sustainability, Katherine Knight, wants our members diving in.
The Great Shark Snapshot is a global community science project, and every sighting counts. Wherever you're diving this week, log every shark, ray and skate you see. No photo needed, just a record. It all feeds into a bigger picture of shark and ray distribution worldwide, helping scientists track populations and shape conservation action for species under threat.
Watch Katherine's video for the full story, then get involved:
- Go diving as normal
- Note every shark, ray and skate you see
- Log your sightings via Shark Log or the Shark Trust app
- Share your dive on social media with #greatsharksnapshot

Every log matters. Let's make this Snapshot count.
