Most people meet your club online before they meet anyone in it. If your website is out of date — or you haven’t got one — you’re losing divers you’ll never know about. Here’s how BSAC can help.

It’s a Tuesday night in January. Someone in your town has just decided this is the year they learn to dive. They pick up their device and search for a club near them.

What happens next depends almost entirely on your website.

If it can be found and loads quickly, looks like it belongs to a club that’s still very much alive, and gives them an obvious way to get in touch — you’ve got an enquiry. If it takes them to a page last updated three years ago, doesn’t work properly on a phone, or leaves them hunting for a contact address, they’ll close the tab and try somewhere else.

That’s a hard thing to hear, because we know the effort that goes into running a club. Websites are usually looked after by one volunteer alongside everything else, and they can slip. It happens to good clubs all the time.

What BSAC’s club website programme does

We’ve partnered with Rocca Creative Thinking, who specialise in digital platforms for membership and sporting organisations, to build proper websites for BSAC clubs — with BSAC contributing towards the setup cost.

Your club gets a site built for you:

  • A modern, mobile-friendly website with unlimited pages
  • A dedicated landing page and enquiry form aimed at people wanting to try diving or snorkelling — and at already-trained divers looking for a club
  • Pages you can edit yourself, with no technical knowledge needed
  • A news area for club updates
  • Photo and video galleries, with optional Instagram and YouTube feeds
  • A members’ area with upcoming events, join and renew links, and key links to bsac.com
  • Social media links and feeds
  • Google Analytics with goal tracking, so you can see how the site is actually performing

Over 65 BSAC clubs are already running on it.

West Norfolk Sub-Aqua Club's new site launched in June.

When it went live we started getting enquiries straight away, from people wanting Try Dives and wanting to learn to dive. Definitely value for money, and we're very glad we went ahead.

What it costs

Rocca’s setup cost is £480 inc VAT. BSAC contributes £90 of that, so your club pays £390 inc VAT as a one-off.

After that it’s £187.20 a year inc VAT — the equivalent of around £15.60 a month — covering secure hosting, your SSL certificate, domain management, maintenance, platform updates and technical support from the Rocca team. No hidden costs, and nobody in your club has to manage hosting or updates.

For many clubs that’s roughly what one or two new members bring in.

What it takes from you

Less than you’d think. Rocca build the site. You’ll need someone to be the point of contact, pull together photos and the key information about your club, and check the draft before it goes live. Most sites go live within weeks, not months.

If you’d rather talk it through first, email marketing@bsac.com or call 0151 350 6224. We can arrange a demo so you can see a real club site before deciding anything.
