Not-for-profit organisation DDRC Healthcare is looking to recruit new Trustees to help broaden its governance and support its work for divers in the southwest of England.
Most UK divers are aware of DDRC (now called DDRC Healthcare) and the support it provides to UK diving. Some divers will also know of DDRC having been treated in the hyperbaric chamber following a diving incident.
DDRC Healthcare is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered UK charity based in Plymouth, it provides 24/7 diving and hyperbaric medical emergency services and hosts the British Hyperbaric Association helpline. In addition to this it produces diver health research and education activities, diver safety materials, presentations, courses and events.
The mission of DDRC is to improve understanding of altered pressure and gas environments for the benefit of divers and patients through treatment, research and education.
As a charity, DDRC has a volunteer Board of Trustees who are responsible for the general control, management, and strategic direction of the charity. Within the Trustees there is a range of expertise including general business, medical, engineering, accountancy, legal, scientific and general diving. There are no specific qualifications or diving expertise required to be a Trustee (some Trustees are not divers), each member of the board provides their own individual contribution to the governance of the charity.
The Trustees meet one evening four times a year at DDRC to discuss business and strategy and the Board of Trustees are looking to expand our membership and broaden the available expertise. If you are based in the South West of the UK, feel you could provide expertise to assist with the governance of the charity and interested in supporting the work of DDRC by becoming a volunteer Trustee please get in touch via the email below.
