Scuba diving doesn’t have to be expensive. Compared to many other 'adventure' sports, learning to dive can be great value for money.

Joining one of BSAC's clubs is the most cost-effective way to start diving. You will pay your BSAC membership and your club's subscription for the year and then your club instructors will provide your training. Local club fees vary but typically you could learn to dive (and get other club benefits such as pool access, events and diving opportunities once you’ve learned) for between £200 and £350.

When you go along for your no-strings Try Dive your chosen BSAC club will explain all about the costs of diving and joining a scuba club.

A BSAC course delivered through one of our training centres is also affordable (generally around £450-600) and can be completed in 4-5 days. Find a centre

Access to diver training gear

One of the great things about learning to dive with a BSAC club or centre is that you have access to gear. This allows you to get some experience before you decide whether to buy your own scuba diving equipment.

Getting your own diving gear

When you are ready to buy, there is a lot of great quality gear available at reasonable prices, and you should be able to get kitted out with new gear for approximately £2,500. As part of BSAC club membership, we will teach you how to look after your equipment properly so that it will last you years. Plus as a BSAC member, you can benefit from BSAC exclusive offers on diving gear with our partners. Some members save £100's every year. See current offers

As a member of a BSAC club you will quickly see a return on your investment - with regular diving opportunities, ongoing training and expert advice on tap, plus the invaluable support from your fellow club members. Find a club.
