East Cheshire SAC scoop the Heinke Trophy 2016!
East Cheshire SAC (ECSAC) has been revealed as the 2016 winner of the Heinke Trophy, BSAC’s premier club award.
The Heinke Trophy is awarded each year to the club which has done the most to further the interests of its members and BSAC.
With this year’s entries providing tough competition, it was East Cheshire SAC’s strong track-record of community events that caught the judges’ attention, making the club the 54th winner of the trophy since it was launched back in 1958.
ECSAC will now receive £1,000 and will be presented with the Heinke Trophy at the BSAC Diving Conference at the NEC on 22nd October.
Also commended by the Heinke judges were Severnside SAC and Sheffield University SAC.
Speaking on behalf of ECSAC, Diving Officer Kevin Phillips said the award was a fantastic boost to the club.
“East Cheshire SAC is really delighted to have been awarded the Heinke Trophy this year, and receive the recognition from BSAC for the hard work done by the team and the contribution we have made to the region.
“We hope to be able to use this award to generate even more enthusiasm in the club and allow us to continue to grow and do more interesting projects over the coming years.”
Heinke Trophy adjudicator Phil Harrison said it was the way ECSAC effectively engaged all its members that really made them stand out.
“This was particularly clear in the running of the club and its enthusiastic involvement in several diving and community projects, including the development of an underwater platform in Salford Quays for all the scuba community.”
Full details of the 2017 Heinke Trophy and how your club can enter will be announced soon.
