Check out this great video from Basildon Sub Aqua Club when they joined Radio Marsden in their attempt to break the world record for the longest continuous underwater radio broadcast.

The underwater radio broadcast took place at Basildon club’s pool facility, the Underwater Studios at Archers Fields raising lots of money for Marsden Hospital.

Dave Goodings, the 23-year-old Radio Marsden presenter who completed the underwater radio broadcast, and Radio Marsden chose to use the deep pool at the Underwater Studios for the record-breaking attempt.

Dave has volunteered for the cancer hospital's station since 2010. The team successfully broke the old record of 5 hours and 6 minutes by 16 minutes and managed a brilliant 5 hours and 22 minutes.

As they chose the deep pool for the attempt and it is our home pool we all really wanted to support it in any way we could. It was a real pleasure to be involved and diving with a great professional team. One member of the team involved was Doug Allen one of the best underwater cameramen in the world, he has worked on many projects including Blue a Planet and BBC’s Springwatch. We are very lucky to have such a great facility available to us every week.
