Martyn Bowie
Martyn Bowie (South East Regional Coach)

Regional Coach is a volunteer role.  The Regional Coach is leader of the regional team.  In the South East I’m lucky to have a very strong keen team of Area Coaches, Instructors and other volunteers. The team’s role is to provide support to the branches and members (including direct members) within the region in a number of ways including:

  • Run Skill Development Courses (SDCs) which branches may not have the instructors or equipment to run themselves.
  • Providing instructors to assist in branch with SDCs or any other training where the branch may be short of instructors
  • Communicate information on news, best practice, updates and policy from BSAC National Diving Committee (NDC), council and HQ
  • Provide mentoring for branch officers and instructors
  • Encourage inter-branch relations to share instructors, resources and boat spaces
  • Run expeditions to do the kind of diving many branches don’t have the experience, numbers or resources to organise themselves

Contact Martyn by email at southeast.coach@bsac.com or by telephone on 07973 186866.

NW Regional Coach
Jamie Heptonstall (North West Regional Coach)

The Regional Coaching team has a number of aims, in the main we want to help you get the skills and qualifications to do the diving that interests you! To achieve this we run a number of Skill Development Courses within the Region or alternatively can assist you in running these courses within your branch. We run training days for particular diver grades; Dive Leader and Advanced Diver, and can also offer preparation sessions for individuals wishing to undertake instructor examinations or First Class. Regional Expeditions are run each year and the team rarely say no to the chance of some exciting diving, if you'd like advice or help then we've got the people. Area Coaches try to visit each of the branches once a year however this isn't always possible with the Region being so geographically large, if you'd like to organise a coaching visit, attend an event or organise one in branch then please get in touch.
