EduCare for Sport
Online Safeguarding training for BSAC clubs
BSAC has teamed up with EduCare for Sport to offer BSAC clubs an online learning service that provides essential duty of care and safeguarding training to help keep clubs running efficiently.
This online course is ideal for ALL our clubs, particularly clubs working with young people or vulnerable adults and clubs working towards their Clubmark status. It is now available for all members, not just members of a club’s committee.
EduCare have been developing and delivering a wide range of distance learning programmes for 25 years and over two million participants have undertaken one of their courses to date. Three hundred BSAC diving and training officers have also completed the NSPCC EduCare Child Protection Awareness programme so far, and feedback has been excellent. The programmes are popular, useful, and easy to complete.
The new EduCare for Sport online learning service also contains a child protection awareness programme, one written especially for the sports sector, along with a range of other essential learning programmes encompassing everything from Equality and Diversity to Basic Food Hygiene. It comes highly recommended and there is a 15% discount for all BSAC clubs.
The service comprises:
- NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport and Active Leisure
- Protecting Vulnerable Adults
- NSPCC Preventing Bullying Behaviour
- NSPCC Safer Recruitment
- An Introduction to Equality & Diversity
- Basic Food Hygiene
- Personal Safety
- An Introduction to Safety in Clubs
Further details on each moduleThe programmes have been developed with subject experts such as the NSPCC, Mencap, Association of Chief Police Officers, St John Ambulance and the Royal College of Nursing. One annual, low cost licence means there’s access to them all for your members, professionals and volunteers.
There are downloadable certificates to evidence learning (which is independently CPD certified) and there are useful management reports that enable you to monitor your peoples’ progress.
BSAC’s CEO, Mary Tetley says: “BSAC is keen to support this EduCare for Sport initiative. These courses will help our branches run more efficiently. By opening the courses up to everyone, not just committee members, it will allow the branches to have a larger knowledge base in important areas useful to running a successful branch. I am sure many of our members will seize the opportunity of taking part in these courses.”
The annual licence costs are based on the number of club members undertaking the learning:
- £75 for small clubs (up to 10 users)
- £200 for medium clubs (up to 50 users)
- £500 for large clubs (unlimited users, although there is a fair use policy).
