Calling all underwater photographers....

The BSAC Photographic Competition 2010 is now open!

Prizes up for grabs this year include a Seychelles holiday for two, an Oceanic drysuit and dive packages with Emperor Divers in the Red Sea.

The BSAC Photographic Competition will run from the 1st May to 31st January 2011. We are now inviting monthly submissions for each of the 2010 competition categories. You can enter your photos for this month now by completing the online form

Each month between May and January, we will select the best three shots from each of the four categories below to go forward to our grand final - and the chance to win one our fantastic prizes:

1. BSAC DIVING

This category enables BSAC members to showcase the very best in BSAC club diving. BSAC branch diving is diverse, social, exciting, challenging, humorous, inspiring, surprising…and so much more. This new category allows the photographer to creatively represent BSAC diving in all its many, varied forms and to capture the personal or essential essence of what branch diving means to them. (Note: scenic only shots do not qualify for the BSAC Diving category - diving activity, divers or snorkellers also need to be part of the composition)

There are two sections to the BSAC Diving category:

BSAC Diving - Newcomer: open to BSAC members only who are 'newcomers' using digital compacts only. (If you have previously won a prize or sold your work you are not a newcomer)

• 1st place - Oceanic drysuit
• 2nd place - APEKS XTX200 regulator
• 3rd place - £300 Cameras Underwater voucher

BSAC Diving - Open.

There will be a monthly prize winner in this category who will receive a Dive Red Sea book plus the overall winners will get:

• 1st place - three day dive package with Emperor Divers plus £500 Nauticam voucher
• 2nd place - APEKS XTX200 regulators
• 3rd place - £300 Cameras Underwater voucher

2. OPEN - this category is open to all agency divers and has two sections:

Open - ALL

• 1st place - three day dive package with Emperor Divers
• 2nd place - APEKS Flight regulator
• 3rd place - £200 Cameras Underwater voucher

Open Newcomers, digital compact only. (If you have previously won a prize or have sold your work you are not a newcomer)

• 1st place - Seychelles holiday for two*
• 2nd place - APEKS Flight regulator
• 3rd place - £250 Sea & Sea voucher

*full prize donated by Seychelles Tourist Board, Seychelles Travel, Berjaya Beau vallon Bay, Denis Island, Air Seychelles, Big Blue Divers and Mason Travel

A BSAC member can enter as a newcomer in both categories but each photograph can only be entered once.

BSAC Photographic Competition 2010 RULES

Our 2010 judges are Tony Baskeyfield (competition coordinator), Charles Hood, JP Trenque and BSAC CEO Mary Tetley. The winners are to be announced in March 2011.
