Diving Officer's Conference 2009
Saturday 5th December saw more than 400 people descend on the London Institute of Education for the 2009 Diving Officer’s Conference. With a packed programme of speakers, awards, BSAC news, diver training and skill development course updates and open forums, the Diving Officer’s Conference had something for everyone.

BSAC AWARDS 2009:
- Heinke Trophy - Awarded to the branch furthering the interests of all branch members and BSAC.
Winner: Edinburgh University
Commended: Southsea SAC, The Sub-Aqua Club of Southampton Solent University*
*Amendment - both clubs were commended not 2nd and 3rd place as previously reported
Award also presented to retiring Heinke Trophy adjudicator George Brookes
- Suunto Branch Volunteer of the Year (NEW) - Presented to 30 ‘unsung heroes’ from the BSAC branch network who have worked tirelessly for the benefit of their branch and members.

- Collins & Chambers OWI Award - Awarded to the most meritorious candidate on the Open Water Instructor Course

- Analox AI Award -Awarded to the most meritorious candidate on the AIE

- First Class Diver - awarded to successful candidates of the FCD

- BSAC Expeditions Trophy - Awarded annually and presented to the organiser of the most significant British exploratory diving expedition of the year.
Winner: Andy Bennett and Mid Lancs SAC’s Gigha project
- Peter Small Trophy - Awarded to the branch that has undertaken the most worthwhile underwater project.
Winner: Clidive and Rory Budds for the Unst, Shetland project
- Colin McLeod Award - Presented to the person who, in the opinion of the Trustees of the BSA Jubilee Trust, has contributed to international cooperation and harmony in diving and associated activities.
Winner: Kendall McDonald
- Scubapro Cousteau Award - Presented to the BSAC member who goes that extra mile in the promotion of the Club’s aims and objective.
