Lowestoft Diver

In March 2005 the club sold its old boat and replaced it with a RIB so we could continue to dive off the Lowestoft coast and possibly further around the British Isles. A lot of names were suggested for the new RIB and we eventually decided on 'Lowestoft Diver'.

Lowestoft Diver is a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB), it is a BWM (Bluewater Maritime) 5.75 mtr, with an Evinrude 90hp 2 Stroke outboard engine. It has a built in 100ltr fuel tank with a radius of approx 30 miles (60 mile round trip). It has DSC VHF radio, echo sounder and GPS. Comfortable cruising speed is 24 mph with 5 fully kitted divers on board. We carry full safety equipment in the form of Oxygen Kit, first aid kit, space blankets, survival bags and flares. We have full navigation lights and a deck light, we also carry carry a few spares and spare fuel tank.

During the diving season the RIB is kept at the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club and is lowered into the water using the crane.
