New show attractions for LIDS 2013
As well as a larger presence for BSAC, plus a new look and layout for the show, this year's London International Dive Show (LIDS 2013), at ExCeL on 23/24 March, will also feature several new visitor attractions.
- Video Skills on the London Stage: As part of its programme of PhotoZone presentations, LIDS will be welcoming videographers Ben Burville, Simon Gardener and Bryan Stanislas – focusing, respectively, on filming UK seals, making holiday videos, and key advice for underwater filming and editing.
- World of Rebreathers: 2013 has been dubbed The Year of the Rebreather because of the various agency-approved units for recreational divers coming on stream. To reflect this, the Rebreather Pool will offer more people than ever the chance to sample new Rec models, as well as new and existing Tech favourites. Manufacturers APD and Oceanic (Hollis) have stands beside the Rebreather Pool, so visitors will be able to talk to the experts.
- Zero To Hero, with NoTanx: In addition to sessions introducing stretching and breathing techniques, LIDS 2013 will play host to the NoTanx "Zero To Hero" Freediving Challenge. This new training opportunity will take 12 newcomers with no previous freediving experience to a level enabling one of them to compete in an international competition in Egypt.
BSAC will be celebrating its 60th anniversary from its main stand, plus there will be the return of the BSAC Branch Pods and the new BSAC Kidz Zone.
There will also be 200 other exhibiting companies over the whole weekend, and LIDS speakers such as Andy Torbet, Monty Halls, Paul Rose and Alex Mustard will offer something of interest for divers of all levels.
Other in-hall features will include the British Isles Experience (with free daily Suunto computer giveaways), the LSD Try-Dive Pool, the Caribbean Village, the popular New Products Showcase, and the NoTanx Freedive Simulator.
