How to learn

At a BSAC Branch
A BSAC Branch is a local diving club which is affiliated with the BSAC and follows its training and qualification system.
BSAC Branches usually conduct diver training over a number of weeks at weekly training sessions. Training is available from entry level upwards and is conducted by qualified instructors. All necessary equipment is supplied by the Branch.
Beginners are usually offered the possibility of a "Try Dive" or a "Experience SCUBA" session before committing themselves. They can move on to the "Ocean Diver" course which qualifies them to participate in open water diving. Divers who are already qualified will be able to progress to higher qualifications and to enjoy going diving with their fellow Branch members.
When you learn with a Branch you will become a BSAC member and will immediately enjoy the full benefits of BSAC membership.
By joining a BSAC Branch you are able to participate in the full range of club activities, (including continuing and specialist courses arranged by the Branch or the BSAC Regional structure), as well as all social activities, weekend diving trips to inland or coastal sites and diving holidays.
Some Branches are superbly equipped with their own boats and compressors and are able to mount fascinating diving trips and expeditions. When necessary, Branches charter dive boats at coastal locations for their own organised dives.

At a BSAC Diver Training Centre
BSAC Diver Training Centres are professionally run diving schools offering a range of BSAC courses to beginners and to those who have already started their training.
Qualified instructors are available to guide you through the training you require at times and locations arranged to suit your needs.
Courses may be offered as a full-time programme, or planned out over a period. It may even be possible to take a course while enjoying a diving holiday.
The school will arrange for all your equipment needs and the other facilities required. Diver Training Centre facilities are inspected and approved by the BSAC.
BSAC Diver Training Centres offer beginners an introductory "Try Dive" session, followed by the "Ocean Diver" course. Training follows the same programme as is used in BSAC Branches.
Schools in different locations may offer different specialities and facilities. See the School Locator for more details.

While on holiday
Our overseas Diver Training Centres offer the possibility of learning to dive while on holiday. The Ocean Diver course can usually be taken during a week's holiday, but if you already have your basic qualification you may want to vist a Training Centre for and advanced or specialist course.
If your ultimate target is to enjoy the pleasures of diving in warmer waters then this may be the path that will appeal to you. Check out our dedicated dive travel site at www.bsactravelclub.co.uk for details of overseas centres.
