Diver Training Days are delivered by a team of Instructors under the overall management of a Lead Instructor.
The Lead Instructor will coordinate the day, assigning Instructors to Students and making sure everything runs smoothly.
The Lead Instructor will be responsible for the management and coordination of the event. They will be available for advice during the day and be able to resolve problems as they occur. They should ensure the record keeping is completed correctly and produce a report of the event.
Assistant Dive Managers may be assigned to ease the running of the event and allow the Lead Instructor to dive. These may be for example Sports Diver trainees wishing to get the Assistant Dive Manager lesson signed off in their logbook. Likewise there may be opportunities for Dive Leader students to Dive Manage the day as part of their training.
The Instructor team may be any grade of BSAC Instructor. Assistant Diving Instructors can also teach on these events under the appropriate supervision. If they are Sports Divers then they will be under the direct supervision of a more qualified Instructor.
For ADI’s planning to take their PIE and/or TIE these are good events to get practice. With a variety of Instructors present there should be a chance to share experiences and training techniques and to receive feedback in preparation for their assessment. Further information for ADI’s on Instructor exam support.
Lead Instructors will provide a timetable for Theory events so that students can attend the lessons they need to complete.
If you are interested in assisting on these events, contact either the organiser or your Regional Coach.
