Try Dive events can be a great way to recruit new trainees. It is a tried and tested formula that, with the right planning and preparation, delivers results.
You can typically expect a 10-20% conversion rate of try divers to new Ocean Diver trainees so for 40 Try Dives, you could see eight new members joining your club.

Running Try Dives
There are two types of Try Dives in clubs:
- Business as usual 'on demand' Try Dives
Ideally, Try Dives need to be 'business as usual' every week in your club. If you have Try Dive leads don’t keep them waiting, get them in the pool as soon as you can.
- Try Dive events
The focus of an event can be great fun for the whole club and deliver a few new members together. To do this we recommend you involve as many of your members as possible. Alongside instructors, other members can get involved in the non-diving side to ensure the club creates a friendly, welcoming and well-run event that gives the best possible impression of your club.
Download the 'How to run a successful Try Dive event' guide - our easy-to-use guide to planning, promoting and delivering a great Try Dive event (includes the 'Try Dive Pool Session Checklist' and 'Try Dives for Under 12s'), or read through it here.
