Discipline and adherence to BSAC recommendations is important on dives. Article 87 (C) states that:
"To secure safety and discipline on diving expeditions the Expedition Leader may suspend for the duration of the expedition any member who fails to obey orders given by such a leader for the said purpose. All such suspensions shall be reported promptly to the Branch Committee".
The term ‘Diving Expedition’ is interpreted by BSAC as meaning a dive organised by a club. The process for disciplining members is explained should be in Branch Bye-Laws.

A Dive Manager shall be considered the Expedition Leader for the purposes of ensuring safety and discipline when diving. The Dive Manager is given the authority of the Diving Officer during diving operations and hence is responsible for safety and ensuring the diving keeps to BSAC Safe Diving.
If a member disregards safety advice or challenges the authority of the Dive Manager then they can be excluded from diving until a resolution is decided.
The Dive Manager should inform the Diving Officer as soon as possible if this course of action is taken and the matter should be discussed at the next club committee meeting to discuss any further action.
